Frequently
Asked
Questions

Where is your office located?

We offer both online services across North Carolina and in-person appointments at our Cary, North Carolina location. Initial appointments are always scheduled for in-person at our Cary office.

What are your hours?

We see patients by appointment only. Our clinician’s schedules may vary, but typically fall within a 10 AM to 4 PM timeframe. We are a small practice of 2 providers at this time, and calls go directly to the clinicians. If we are with a patient, we will be unable to answer and will do our best to return calls within 1-2 business days.

How long are appointments?

Your free phone consultation lasts up to 20 minutes. Initial evaluations are generally 60 to 90 minutes long and are held in-person at our Cary location. Follow-up appointments range from 20 to 30 minutes, depending on your needs and the type of service.

Are you accepting new patients?

Yes! We'll do our best to schedule you for the next available opening for a phone consult call.

With what age range do you work?

We specialize in working with adults of all ages.

Is there anyone you don't work with?

While we aim to support as many people as possible, certain issues may be better suited for specialists. We'll discuss any limitations during your initial consultation.

How much do you charge?

Our fees vary depending on the service and will be discussed during your initial complimentary 20-minute phone consultation.

Do you take insurance?

We are currently in network with Aetna, NC State Plan and most Blue Cross Blue Shield insurances. We have self-pay options as well and can provide a “Superbill” receipt after each visit, which you can submit to your insurance provider for potential reimbursement. We are unable to accept patients with Medicaid at this time.

How do I set up an initial appointment?

The first step is to schedule a free 20-minute consultation. We'll call you by phone to discuss your situation, answer your questions, and determine if our practice may be a good fit for your needs.

What is your cancellation policy?

We request 48 hours' notice for cancellations. Late cancellations or missed appointments will incur a fee.

What if I'm in crisis and need immediate help?

We are a small outpatient practice of two providers, and are not able to provide emergency services. If you're in immediate crisis, please contact emergency services (911), the suicide and crisis lifeline (988), or go to the nearest emergency room.

Do you prescribe medications?

Yes. As a psychiatry practice, we offer both medication management and holistic treatments like psychotherapy, mindfulness techniques, and lifestyle interventions.

Do you offer therapy?

Yes, we provide various forms of psychotherapy as part of our integrative approach for patients receiving medication management. Patients may choose to see us for medication management alone if they have a separate therapist, and we will collaborate with the therapist for their care.

What happens during the first session?

Your first session will involve a comprehensive evaluation of your mental health, medical history, and lifestyle factors. We'll discuss your symptoms, concerns, and goals, and begin to formulate a personalized treatment plan. At the end of that visit, you and the provider must both agree to move forward with a treatment relationship in order to schedule the next visit and begin the provider-patient relationship. Initial visits are held at our Cary, NC location.

How often should we meet?

The frequency of appointments depends on your individual needs and treatment plan. We'll discuss and agree on a schedule that works best for you.

What type of treatments do you use?

We offer a range of treatments including medication management, various forms of psychotherapy, mindfulness techniques, and lifestyle interventions based on our Five Pillars of Health approach.

How do I get a hold of you between sessions?

You can contact our administrative team via phone or email during business hours. For non-urgent matters, you can also message your provider through our secure patient portal. We are able to respond to messages typically within 1-2 business days.

What happens between sessions?

The magic truly happens between sessions by implementing what you’ve learned. We send visit summaries to every patient after each appointment. The summaries are personalized to your care, and include reminders of what you discussed and highlight any action items or medication changes. This makes it easier for you and your clinician to stay on track and monitor progress.

Do you offer any educational resources or workshops?

Yes, we provide regular online workshops and courses on various mental health topics. These are available to both patients and non-patients. Sign up for our newsletter to stay informed about upcoming offerings.
